About Us
WELCOME TO GOODWOOKIE PRODUCTIONS
My name is Don Walker. My dog, Chewbacca and I thank you for visiting our website.
For more than three decades, I have worked as a professional chef, and I will share my experience with you here along with great recipes, cooking videos and kitchen hacks I’ve picked up over the years, but that’s just one of the reasons why I created this website.
I enjoy cooking as an art form and as a science. Then there’s the necessity of food and the challenges of pleasing the crowd. Everyone eats, and I enjoy finding the right meal for the right person at the right time. Being a chef is complex, to put it mildly, and overcoming challenges would become one of my greatest strengths as a chef. Being the creator of many of my own challenges to overcome was, on the other hand, my greatest weakness. I learned a lot of lessons “the hard way” as it is said.
Becoming a chef was not necessarily a conscious decision, I attended a Graphic Arts college right out of high school, not Culinary Arts. I didn’t even know that type of school existed at the time. I had worked part time since I was fifteen, but I didn’t become a line cook until later.
Eventually, I dropped out of college and went to work full time in the kitchen. I had also chosen a partying lifestyle over responsibility at some point in high school and it was already causing problems for me. It took me many years to begin to understand that and I’m blessed and fortunate to still be here to tell the tale. Like I’ve already said, master of my own misery!
Today, I have the opportunity to give back to my family and the community. That is one of my personal goals for this creating company. Over the past three years my primary job has been to care for my elderly mother, and I was forced to rethink my personal and professional goals during that time as well. I look at life a little differently now and as a result, I want different things in my life. That old drive to be the best chef has faded and a new desire to share my knowledge and help others has replaced it. But I still need to make a living!
So, that brings us to GoodWookie Productions LLC, and what we do. I’ve already mentioned the culinary delights, tutorials, and hacks, which is a mouth full! Now what else can we provide for you?
Entertainment! And services, of course! You might be surprised at what can be accomplished in an hour of consultation. A fifteen-minute consultation will cost you nothing, and I offer hourly rates if you decide we can help each other. Let’s talk!
We can discuss any issues you may be experiencing and explore possible solutions together. Or we can discuss your ideas and help you find the inspiration and techniques to accomplish your goals.
I also happen to have a great voice (my ego told me to say that), and we have a page dedicated to my voiceover demos and services offered. If you are looking for a professional and creative male voice for your project, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! Chewy is for hire as well, but his vocabulary is limited!
And he’s the real star of this show....... Chewbacca The Great. Chewy for short. I’m just the proud doggie dad. His influence on my life has been enormous and I am grateful!
His companionship has been therapeutic, and he filled a hole that I didn’t know existed. As a selfish and irresponsible adult, I didn’t have a family, and I think it bothered me. So, I spoil my pet like a child, and I want to give him the best life that I can. He turns four this spring
and I have been planning some grand adventures for us!
“The Adventures of DonSolo and Chewy in The Aluminum Falcon” is our real-life travels together in our new 1968 Ford F-350 1 Ton truck with a custom, frame mounted, Mitchell and Sons camper. I got him the ultimate doghouse, and you are invited to join us. I’m also installing a mobile voice recording space in the camper for working on the road, so
look for some videos (and audio!) on that build soon as well. I absolutely love being able to create content and a video log of our lives to share with others.
Look for the links below to all our social networking sites.
Over the course of my culinary career, I have been fortunate to work and live in some of the most desirable locals in the lower 48 states. Places like Sanibel Island, The Florida Keys, Annapolis, Maryland, Asheville, North Carolina, East Tennessee, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and many others. I have family in Chicago, Denver, Austin, Tampa, Ft. Myers, and many other places as well. I spent most of my school years in central Ohio, but I have moved at least thirty-nine times in my fifty-one years on Earth. The nomadic lifestyle must be in my blood.
As I work to build my new voiceover career, I hope to revisit some of these places and visit friends, family, and old co-workers where I can. We will be recording voice demos and working on improving all my content creation skills and as we get into the spring and summer, I will keep everyone updated on where we are and what we are doing. For now, we are planning a few short trips during the spring to forage in the hills here in Appalachia and see what we can cook up. Stick around, things are just getting warmed up!
